Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare conflicts with PS4 Share Play

The use of the unique feature of Share Play, recently introduced for PS4 with update 2.0 is not applicable for Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare. Apparently many users have reported that they were unable to excercise this feature for the anticipated game that was released yesterday. Our report on the pre-loading of game is available here. Share Play as described by Sony enables the players to share one hour of the game with a friend residing in any part of the world , hence the”friend” with whom the game is shared would be able to play one hour session even if they did not own a copy of the game themselves.

The only drawback they notified was that certain features of the game’s being shared such as spoiler cutscenes and other segments might be blocked from Share Play. However Sony was not able to identify that certain games might resist the feature altogether , which might be the situation with Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare as Activision appears to have blocked this feature.

Users on Reddit and Twitter continue to report that Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare does not support the Share Play feature. Whenever the user as singleplayer, multiplayer, splitscreen and coop gameplay intends to share the game with a friend, a message gets displayed notifying it as a “blocked scene” thus allowing them to conclude that the entire game has been blocked.

There are no confirmations as to why this is occurring, if it is an error in Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare or Share Play has been blocked by Activision. Although we hope that it is just an error hence a patch can fix it, if not we hope that other video games don’t resort to blocking Share Play altogether
