Destiny announces a digital upgrade program

Destiny
Destiny is one of the most awaited games.

Just a day left for the release of Destiny, it has been penned down to be a global sensation. And what’s more, the developers have come out with another wonderful surprise. Now, buying a last-generation version of Destiny digitally will get you the next generation version of it for free.

From the creators of multi-billion dollar conception Halo, Bungie developers are set to uncover their upcoming mythic science fiction called Destiny.

The multiplayer first person shooter will be massive in terms of online features and will be roleplaying in nature. It will be published by Activision as a part of their 10 year deal and will release on 9th September, 2014.

The setting is in a post-apocalyptic ‘Golden Age’ seven hundred years into the future. The plot revolves around the concept of ‘The Traveller’ who is responsible for the scattered colonization of humans throughout the Solar system. But after”the Collapse” occurred, mankind faces the threat of extinction as the ruins of their races lie buried in the dunes of Mars, hidden in the jungles of Venus, lost in a wild and abandoned Earth.

Activision and Bungie revealed a digital upgrade program for Destiny, which will allow players who purchase a digital copy of the game for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to upgrade to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, respectively absolutely for free. This program also includes the Guardian Edition and Expansion Pass, as long as you are asking for the next gen version of the platform that you own. They want to keep the program within the same platform families.

To be applicable for this program, you’ll need to purchase the last-gen versions before January 15, 2015. The official site has details on how to claim your upgrade by navigating to the proper section of each store. However even after redeeming the upgrade, you can still continue playing Destiny on your old system.

Further reports also say that whether or not you take part in the program, your stats will be able to go cross-platform and will be kept saved and kept intact if you ever upgrade.

However, there are disparities between platforms, recently seen when Bungie announced the Dust Palace map, a piece in a handful of content exclusive only to PlayStation platforms.

The hype for the game keeps on growing
