Gratuitous Space Battles 2 releases a teaser trailer

gratuitous space battles 2 teaser trailer
Space warfare just got a lot more fun.

A new teaser trailer has been released by Positech Games for the upcoming Gratuitous Space Battles 2 (GSB2). The original GSB focused on amazing space battles and also allowed players to design ships, arrange them into fleets and then start the battle. GSB2 will stick to this original formula, but with an improved engine, multiple monitor support and the addition of three new classes of ship.

GSB2 is expected to be bigger, bolder, better and have cooler effects along with a truly gratuitous user-interface. It will be available on PC, Mac and Linux but not IOS or other tablets. The reason for this being that this game is a desktop experience, and therefore more fun with bigger monitors. It is designed to support 5120 resolutions stretched over multiple monitors, regardless of video card. According to Positech Games, there aim is to scale down nicely to older PCs, yet provide a suitable experience for PC enthusiasts with insane setups!

GSB2 will retain its gameplay design to the prequel, where players will have to design fleets of ships to battle against vast alien fleets. It will maintain the same challenge-based, non-synchronized online combat of the original. It will be a 2D experience with a substantially improved engine which will provide a more 3D and more immersive feel.

The release date for the game has not yet been revealed and the trailer says it's going to release "soon(ish)"!! Can't tell how soon that is, but is expected to release sometime before the end of the year. If you like bright colours and enjoy large scale interplanetary warfare than this is a game for you. Here's a detailed gameplay video.
