Minecraft Developer points to scrolls release date

Mojang's Owen Hill has revealed in an interview with Touch Arcade that Scrolls will be releasing late in November this year.

“The guesstimate is late November,” Hill says, “but we’re not going to release it until it’s ready, if you know what I mean.” Scrolls has been in development for over three years now in Stockholm, Sweden. Its current form remains in beta, so the final release sees the game moving out of beta status to become a full retail title. A word from Scrolls producer and artist Henrik Pettersson confirms the same... “Final release’ just means we’re taking it out of beta, but we want to continue development after that.” According the Pettersson, Scrolls aims to release on PC, Mac, iOS and Android tablets simultaneously. It's still planned for release on mobile phones, but Pettersson says Mojang isn't "aiming for phones with the first version".

When asked about Mojang’s acquisition by Microsoft, he said “We’ve been so busy with our launch of Scrolls and scrambling to get everything ready, we’re just happy to hear that Microsoft won’t be changing anything in the short term. They’re buying Mojang to keep Mojang working as it has been. There’s a good chance that the only effect is that we’ll have to add a Microsoft logo to the launcher or something.”
