Nintendo's next wave of amiibo for 2015 includes Sonic and Megaman

Nintendo has recently unveiled eleven new amiibo figures for its third wave collection. Amiibo are Nintendo’s answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity and gamers have been itching to get their hands on these figures ever since its announcement earlier this year,. But even before its release, Nintendo has already revealed the characters present in the third wave of amiibo figures. The figures will also feature third-party characters for the first time including Sega’s mascot Sonic, a pretty huge move on Nintendo’s part. The figures will be available in Japan on January and February of 2015 and are expected to arrive on North American shores on February 2015.

The list of characters present in the third wave can be found on Nintendo’s product page. This will include Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog and Capcom’s Mega Man. Seems like Nintendo is actively working towards implanting third-party characters in its amiibo list which will offer players an even wider range of characters.

The first release is set for January 22, 2015 and will include Rosalina & Chico, Bowser, Toon Link, Lucario, Ike, Sheik, King Dedede and Meta Knight. The February release will have Mega Man, Shulk and Sonic. Note that these releases are only for Japan, the date for other counties has not been announced yet. Also it is not clear yet if these amiibos will be compatiable for any other game besides Super Smash Bros. The figures are priced at 1,200 yen which is roughly around $13.

The first wave of amiibo is all set to release in North America on November 21 and Europe on November 28, alongside the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. These will include Nintendo’s most popular characters Pikachu, Mario and Link.
