Rare now developing a 'uniquely Rare' game

Rare

From the time of its acquisition by Microsoft in 2002 for a staggering $375 million, Rare studios has not released any substantially ground breaking games. They’ve mostly focused on Kinect console games including the Kinect Sports Rivals which was released to mixed reviews. Kinect has proven to be Rare’s week point and they are better off working on other projects rather than the Kinect sports series. But all hope does not seem to be lost for Rare fans. Recently, Xbox head Phil Spencer has revealed in a tweet that Rare is now focusing on a new and “uniquely rare” game.

Hopefully this means that Rare is back on its feet again. Spencer did not go into details of this mystery game but expect some some info on it in the weeks to come. The fact that Spencer ‘played’ the game means the game is at least a decent way into development.

The company once known for bringing gamers acclaimed classics like Donkey Kong Country, Golden Eye and Banjo-Kazooie definitely needs another breakthrough and hopefully this ‘rare game’ might just do it. Sadly many of the developers behind the classic Rare games have long since left the studio. So the only thing left to do for Rare fans is to wait and watch.
