The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is coming to 3DS and isn't 'Just another remake'

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Nintendo has announced at its November Direct last week that Majora’s Mask, the much loved cult-classic puzzle mystery entry in the Zelda franchise, was going to make a comeback this time on the 3DS.

In a post on Nintendo’s Miiverse, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has stated that the project is very ambitious than one might normally expect. He has also revealed some behind-the scenes details on the development so as to give fans a glimpse on what’s to come. The game is much like its predecessor The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Nintendo had apparently started working on the game soon after the development for Ocarina of Time in June 2011, but they did not want to let the cat out of the bag just yet.

"So although we’ve been working on the game for quite some time, we didn't want to say it was being developed until we were at a point where we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time," Was Aonuma’s explanation for not releasing info on the games development earlier.

Aonuma has added that he doesn’t want this game to be just another remake and the development team is also working to make the game smoother than its original version. Changes will also be added but despite this, the game will still preserve its unique atmosphere and mood that made the original such a fan-favorite to begin with. This is probably the main reason for the long wait.

Aonuma has stated “We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the gameplay experience is smoother than in the original version without taking away from this unique world…Oh, and I should mention that we haven’t removed the distinct look and feel that are unique to this game, so it should live up to this game’s Japanese catchphrase, “this Zelda has a scary vibe.” Brace yourselves for what this world has to offer!”.

Changes have been made and features have been added to the game, the details of which will be revealed soon.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will be releasing for the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS in Spring 2015.
