According to Sega, the publisher of Total War: Rome II, the game will witness its second major campaign expansion on March 27.

The Hannibal at the Gates campaign pack focuses on the Second Punic War, with five playable factions introducing loads of new units.

As per IGN India, the release statement read: “Main protagonists Rome and Carthage will benefit from a new civil tech tree based around diplomacy, while the challenge in the shadow of these mighty empires for newcomers Syacuse, the Arevaci and the Lusitani will be formidable.”

In addition to the campaign pack announcement, Sega revealed, Total War: Rome II was the most commercially successful game in the series and developer Creative Assembly announced that a free content upgrade is coming soon as well for all owners, irrespective of weather they have purchased any DLC or not.

Mike Simpson, creative director at Creative Assembly said: “Rome II was hugely ambitious for our studio.

“We do regret that some reviewers and core fans didn’t get everything they wanted from it. We are committed to improving and adding to the game over the coming months; we very much want Rome II to be remembered as one of our best.”

Last month, there was a controversy regarding Total War: Rome II’s DLC. People criticised Creative Assembly for locking content already on the disc. The developer responded and said it was all a misunderstanding.

Total War: Rome II – Hannibal at the Gates is available for pre-order for $15/£10/€15.
