The RWITC is expected to make several changes with the stakes getting higher this year. The prize money and the trophies are valued at Rs. 8,50,00,000. This year will see a total of 22 ‘Million’ races, each carrying a minimum prize money of Rs. 10,00,000.

“This is a record number of million races for a monsoon season. We have increased the number of races for two-year-olds from two to four. This will give the owners a chance to get returns earlier,” said Vivek Jain, a committee member of the RWITC.

The Pune Race Course is undergoing renovation and several new additions have been made. Some of them include a new 600 metre track, new LED screens, electronic statistics board, fresh irrigation pipelines, among others.
