Planescape: Torment is a lonely journey to discover untold stories. Why this game is on the list? Because Planescape: Torment is possibly one of those game that is not focused on combat, it is more focused on storytelling. Listen to the conversation and don’t ignore them, make choices that you will not regret and pay attention to the storyline before anything else.
There are those games in which we don’t listen to what the commander has to say and follow the map, complete objectives, and level up. And then there is Torment, where combat or gameplay does not matter. What matters is the journey. Torment is a journey of a person who has lived and died many lives and has no recollection of them. Torment encourages you to uncover the stories and its world through exploration, conversations and clever questing.
#2 Diablo 2
One of those games that proved to us that a game’s life-cycle can be way longer than you might think. And Blizzard releasing a patch for Diablo 2 in 2016 supports my argument as well. Diablo 2 is one of the finest old PC games without any doubt. Diablo 2 introduced us to this new age of high-intensity action-packed RPG that later has been used in other games but none of them could beat Diablo 2. The well-animated pixels and grungy look s make Diablo appealing but the game-play of Diablo is what appeals more to the fans and one of the reasons why Diablo 2 is still going on strong.
#1 Fallout: 2
Fallout has come a long way. Just look at the picture of Fallout 2 and any picture from today’s Fallout game, and you can tell the difference but there is a reason why it is one of the classics. Because the bad pixel might wake some questions up in your mind but I’m telling you, old games were not famous for graphics. The amount of narrative and mechanical depth these games have, very few games have these depths in today’s gaming. Fallout 2 is available on steam in high resolution and with cloud saving.
The world of Fallout 2 is very unforgiving. One bad choice or a bad character development might give you a very bad experience and that is what fun about this game. You get to explore the post-apocalyptic world as you explore the landscape, side quests, and well descriptive characters. It is harsh and maybe a little ugly but Fallout 2 came out to define the entire series.
