It’s been almost six months since EA Sport’s flagship game FIFA 17 released worldwide and people have really taken to the latest version. Whether it is playing the very ingenious Journey Mode or the Ultimate Team, all football lovers are absolutely hooked to the game.

However, it is the Career Mode that continues to arrest the attention of the gamers. Leading your favourite teams to titles or starting with a lower division team, building the squad, and gradually climbing up the ranks, this particular mode has its own new features.

Often, one delves in the extensive scouting system to find young players with high potential. Here, we have listed five players, you may not know about, who not only have high potential (above 80) but also have a high growth.

#1 Marcus Edwards (Potential – 84, Growth – 26)

Marcus Edwards is yet another product of Tottenham Hotspurs’ youth academy which is geared towards producing creative, inventive players. Fleet-footed and skilful, this left-footed midfielder has already made his senior national team debut in the EFL Cup in September.

Such is his talent that Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino has even gone on to say that the attacking midfielder reminds him of a young Lionel Messi. His speed, mazy runs and silky dribbles are things that few 18-year-olds possess, and with time, he is only going to get better.

In the game, he starts at a lowly rating of 58, but of course, he has been given a high potential of 84 which sees a growth in rating points by a massive 26 points. If you play with him in career mode, it will take you around 3-4 seasons before he reaches the 80s, but after that, it is a treat to play with this youngster.

#2 Mamadou Doucoure (Potential – 84, Growth – 22)

Doucoure joined Monchengladbach from PSG

Mamadou Doucoure is a Senegal-born French defender who plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach. He joined the side in the summer last year on a five-year-deal from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer but is yet to make his senior team debut.

Having already represented France at U-16, U-17 and U-18 level, the 18-year-old defender, has a lot of potential to make it as a top defender in the future. Standing at a towering 1.84 m, Doucoure is not afraid to use his physicality in the game.

The defender starts out at the game with a rating of 62 but the game developers definitely think a lot of him and have given him a high potential of 84. This means a growth by a massive 22 points. It does take a few seasons to get the best of him, but depending on his performances, his rating may well eclipse the 84 mark.

#3 Reece Oxford (Potential – 86, Growth – 20)

West Ham’s Reece Oxford in action

Reece Oxford is one of the most exciting English talents around. He joined West Ham United in 2011, and in 2015, he made his first competitive debut in a Europa League fixture, at the age of 16 years and 198 days, thus making him the club's youngest ever player

He made 7 league appearances for the Hammers last season before joining Reading on a loan deal at the start of this season. An imposing defender, Oxford can also play in defensive midfield and at full back positions. He is versatile and has a knack of making the right decisions.

After garnering seven league appearances under his belt already, one might have expected that the 18-year-old would be rated higher. However, Oxford has only been given an overall rating of 66. But with a high potential of 86, that sees him grow by at least 20 rating points, he is one of the best buys.

#4 Emre Mor (Potential – 84, Growth – 20)

Emre Mor, of course, made the headlines when Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund signed him earlier in the summer. The Turkish youngster is an exciting talent, who was extensively scouted by both Manchester United and Liverpool until Dortmund scooped him up.

Although physically frail, Mor more than makes up for it with his technique and creativity. He is very fast and has superb dribbling abilities. However, it is his unpredictability that sets him apart from the rest of the crowd. This season he has made seven appearances in the Bundesliga and scored once.

In the game, he has been rated at just 64, but given that he is only 19 years old and has arrived in Germany this year, it is justifiable. However, a potential of 84, which sees his rating go up by 20 points, shows how FIFA actually rates him. But then again, you have to be patient to witness his potential.

#5 Jose Gomes (Potential – 85, Growth – 19)

Jose Gomes won the player of the tournament at the U-17 European Championship in 2016

Benfica is famous for producing wonder kids, especially fast, skilful wingers and forwards, and Jose Gomes is the latest exponent of the Benfica youth system. The talented striker was called up for the senior team after a minor injury crisis and he did not disappoint. Since then he has gone on to make 3 appearances for the team.

Last summer, he won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with Portugal and finished as the tournament's leading goal scorer and was also crowned the Golden Player. Only 17 years of age and he is already making the right headlines.

He is pacey, has good close control and is the perfect striker. In the game, Gomes has been rated at 66, which is high considering his age, and within a couple of seasons, you will find him touching the 80 mark. His growth does not end there as he has a potential of 85 which can be easily eclipsed through his performances.
