Game developers probably have the most difficult job on the planet. To digitally recreate a real-life human being in a video game is no easy thing and every now and then, they get it wrong.
Ever since the release WWE 2K17, fans, as usual, have been passionately debating the dubious accuracy of the overall ratings awarded to each wrestler in the game.
While 2K Sports have skewed numerous wrestlers to play as conspicuously weaker than their real-life counterparts, some other Superstars have been grossly overrated in the game. As a result, the video game has been filled with infuriating inconsistencies.

We have already listed five Superstars, who we think have been overrated in the game. Here, we list five Superstars, from world champions to under-appreciated wrestlers, who have been grossly underrated in WWE 2K17.
#5 Neville (Rating: 78)
WWE has not yet used Neville to his true potential but the matter of fact is that he is an immense wrestler. By far one of the most talented and athletically gifted wrestler on the roster, Neville has always been under-appreciated.
Recently, though, all that has changed after he turned heel on Rich Swann and later on defeated him at Royal Rumble to claim the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. However, all that was too late for 2K to give him a high enough rating in the game.
But still, the fact that he has been rated lower than the likes of Luke Harper (79), Baron Corbin (80) and even Jim Neidhart (82) is not something that has gone down well with the wrestling fans. Being a high-risk grappler but not the traditional flat-out cruiserweight, Neville does have the breakout potential as Rey Mysterio-like figure.
A rating of 85 would have done justice to this guy’s awesomeness.
#4 Goldust (Rating: 70)
In WWE 2K16, Goldust was rated at (an admittedly ridiculous) 86. He was amazing in last year’s game, albeit a bit overrated, and 2K had to nuke his rating down. But isn’t 70 too low for someone like him?
After all, he has been in incredible shape and has arguably put up some of his best performances in his wrestling career in recent times. Yes, he has been let down by his partners on a few occasions but surely, that is no reason for him to be rated so lowly.
Even both of The Bushwhackers are rated 71 in the game. Does Goldust really deserve to be rated lower than them? Other who have earned a higher rating than him include Heath Slater (72) and the most embarrassing of them all, Stephanie McMahon (73)!
Agreed, he was never a top-tier Superstar but at least he deserves a rating that recognises how good a wrestler he still is. A rating of 78 should be fair.
#3 Kevin Owens (Rating: 86)
At 86, Kevin Owens is pretty decently rated. He is amongst the top pantheon of the Superstars (though not the very, very top) in the game. But he is the current and longest reigning WWE Universal Champion, and surely he deserves more.
On the wrestling front, he is one of the most skilled of them all. Still, in the game, he falls behind a litany of Superstars. The superiority of Booker T (87), Sami Zayn (87), Vader (87), Diesel (88) and Lex Luger (88) over K.O. are questionable, to say the least.
Even Bray Wyatt (87), (yes, he recently became the WWE Champion but that was some five-six months after the game was released) has been rated above him in the game.
Owens has done enough to earn himself a rating which should above the Samoa Joes and the Sami Zayns but at the same time lower than the John Cenas and the Brock Lesnars. A slight boost to 89 should be justified.
#2 Asuka (Rating: 85)
Asuka is, of course, the current and longest reigning NXT Women's Champion. When the game was released, she had been undefeated for over a year and now she has only stretched her undefeated streak to 150.
When you see the other female wrestlers like Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Bayley all rated at 87, you would think surely she should be rated above them. After all, Asuka had defeated Bayley to claim the title. And then there are the legends like Lita, Trisha Stratus and Alundra Blayze all rated 87.
Seriously, though, given Asuka’s virtually unrivalled dominance, she should be the highest-rated female wrestler in the entire game, right? Clearly, her achievements speak for themselves.
A rating of 89, such that she edges all other female wrestlers by a handsome margin of at least two points, should be justified.
#1 AJ Styles (Rating: 89)
At the time of the release of the game, AJ Styles was the reigning WWE Champion. He had overcome the likes of Dean Ambrose and John Cena to hold on to his title (which was claimed first by Cena and then Bray Wyatt).
While 89 is no mean score, it does not match up with his reputation as the best wrestler in the world. In the game, he is considered to be on par with the likes of Roman Reigns, Kevin Nash. The Ultimate Warrior and Scott Hall!
And somehow, he falls behind the Mankind (90)! Now, would you agree to that? The Mankind is better than AJ? Seriously?
AJ should have been rated at 93, which would suit him fine and put him on the same tier as Cena, The Undertaker and Seth Rollins. It would also be just as AJ would still be one step down from the God-tier Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar, both of whom hold 95 each.
