Assassin's Creed: Updates on Odyssey and Assassin's Creed III Remastered

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

OK, Assassin's Creed Odyssey fans, pay attention. Yesterday, Ubisoft unleashed an update of Zeus-ian proportions, including a new chapter in the Lost Tales of Greece and an update on what to expect with the Assassin's Creed III remaster coming out next month. Let's just dive right in and see what's going on.

The Lost Tales of Greece: A Brother's Seduction

In A Brother's Seduction, you will encounter a waylaid poet who will lead you to the Port of Kechries where you must help two brothers deal with their father's recent passing. Unfortunately, your presence inspires some brotherly rivalry as they compete for your affections, and it falls to you to untangle this family drama.

This new chapter should already be available to you now, provided you've reached Chapter 5 in the game's main path. It can be accessed in the Korinthia region under the mission "Prodigal Son's Return." Have fun!

New features, y'all!

While Odyssey, unlike some other games I could mention - *cough*Unity*cough* - ugh, excuse me - came out in a pretty complete fashion, Ubisoft has been making small changes here and there to improve the experience as the game gets older.

The first is an addition of a New Game + mode, which we've been waiting for for a while. Adding this mode weeks or months after the game's release seems to be the thing lately, which I'll never really understand. But, whatever. One upside to the New Game + mode is that you're not limited to the same protagonist you used in your first playthrough.

There's also been an increase of Level Cap to 99 (because a three digit number was asking for way too much, you guys). That's good news for you grind hounds out there who just have to level up everything. You'll also get three new Engraving tiers and some new ship improvements.

Speaking of tiers, the Mercenary Ladder is also getting two more of these, offering you, players, as Ubisoft puts it "sweet loot, loads of drachmae, and two additional benefits: 10% more Orichalcum and a higher drop rate of epic gear".

Twenty-two new fast travel points have also been scattered around Greece - with a good number of them located near ports. For you virtual shutterbugs, the photo mode now has an additional 10 frames to play with, as well (there's also a new Photo Mode contest, "Winter In Greece" starting on the 21st.)

Finally, there's been some changes to the subtitles, giving you the option to add a background to both subtitles and dialogue, if that's your thing.

New Content Packs this month are the Wild Boar Pack...

Assassin's Creed III Remastered

The new edition of the divisive third chapter in the franchise (sort of... not counting Brotherhood and Revelations), comes out on March 29th. Here's what Ubisoft had to say about it.

The Remastered versions come with improvements, such as new character models, modernized User Interface, a new lighting rendering system, Physically Based Rendering, and 4K & HDR on the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and PlayStation®4 Pro computer entertainment system.

You can either buy the game in stores or digital download; it's also included if you bought the Season Pass for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
