Undoubtedly, the most awaited and grand games of 2015, Batman:Arkham Knight certainly has the players on the edge for any scrape of information regarding the game. Evidently, the hype surrounding the game keeps increasing as we close in on the release date June 2nd. Rocksteady had been successful in getting a T rating for the previous three Batman: games from the ESRB which had their fair share of violence and dark moments.
In an exclusive interview with IGN Sefton Hill, game director Batman:Arkham Knight and the founder of Rocksteady mentioned that the congregation had never planned the game to make it liable for a Mature rating but that it just happened that way.
“From our point of view, we never wrote it or made it with a rating in mind. We never did that in the previous two games… We just felt that this is the story that we really wanted to tell.”
Hill expressed his concern regarding the impending M rating could possibly deter young gamers from getting the opportunity of playing the game, but they definitely did not want to steer the story in another direction as that would dilute the content of the story.
“I’m not blind to the fact that [the M rating] does mean some fans will miss out… I don’t want to be oblivious to that fact. It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn’t believe in to keep the game ‘mass market’ or enable it for more people. We feel that’s the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don’t want to jeopardize that.”
