Naughty Dog’s emotional action-adventure title, “The Last of Us” was released back in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 to critical acclaim. The game was praised for its acting, story, and emotional depth. The award winning title then received a remastered edition for the PlayStation 4.

And though the game may never get another sequel, fans will atleast have the film adaptation to look forward to. The Last of Us director, Neil Druckmann, has revealed a bit more information on the upcoming movie adaptation of the game in his latest interview with GameInformer.

Druckmann, who is also the film’s script writer, has revealed that the movie adaptation will include some “big changes”. In his recent interview, Druckmann stated that the second draft for the movie is now complete. Besides this, Druckmann said that there will be some big changes to the movies script, though fans of the game need not worry as the script will still be “faithful” to the game, at least in terms of tone and message. He said,

“I just finished a second draft, and we did a table read with a bunch of actors. Pretty faithful to the game. There are some big changes, but the tone and what the story’s trying to say is pretty faithful to the game.”

Changing a few aspects in the script is sometimes necessary, especially when it is adapted from a game. Druckmann has also been working pretty hard, dividing his time between this movie and the upcoming Unchartered: A Thief’s End. So here’s hoping his hard work pays off once the movie is out.
