BioWare aims for cinematic realism with Mass Effect 4

Mass Effect 4

Its seems that the next Mass Effect entry will have more realistic looking character models and animations. In a recent job listing on their careers website, Mass Effect developers BioWare are now looking for a “Senior Cinematic Animator”. Selected candidates will be working on the upcoming Mass Effect 4.

According to the listings “key responsibilities” section, candidates will be in charge of animating cut scenes and characters. It seems that cinematic realism is what the team will be striving for with Mass Effect 4. You can check out the list of key responsibilities below:

  • Develop and animate cut scenes that support the narrative of the games
  • Animate the human form, giving the character weight, personality, mood, and believability
  • Animate in realistic and stylized motion, on both human and creature models
  • Convey mood and emotion through facial animation

The Mass Effect series has created a number of memorable characters over the years. It would great to see what BioWare can achieve in Mass Effect 4 when it comes to realistic character animations. With the “realism” aspect being emphasized, it is possible that the new Mass Effect entry will set the bar even higher.

Mass Effect 4 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game has been in development for a long while now, and with BioWare still recruiting, it is likely that the game will not release anytime soon.
