The lead artist of the game The Biding Of Isaac: Rebirth is bringing his retro style action exploration platformer to Steam on February 5th. Titled ‘Castle of Darkness’, the game will be featuring Nods to meteoroid and JRPG’s like of Final Fantasy, and will feature like a side scrolling hack and slasher, like Iron Sword and along with it a healthy dose of Castlevania.
Kap, the artist has been working on the game for the past two years in his spare time said this is his solo project which he had envisioned as something that he would have enjoyed as a kid, according the game's website. The game will be available on Steam for $6 USD.
However, the game cannot be accounted as the best old school game, without having compared it with the game Shovel Knight.
For those of you who don’t know, the game Shovel Knight may have set a high bar for games like Castle in the Darkness, but then again, this game proves that a mixture of old school with a hint of modernity can also do wonders to a game and make it work amazingly well. However, only time will tell if Kap’s entry to this retro revival game will reach the same level as Shovel Knight.
