The Twisted Sword is one of Deltarune's most interesting weapons. It’s not available through normal gameplay and is currently unobtainable without modding or data-mining. Still, its presence in the game files has sparked a lot of fan theories, especially since it ties directly to the infamous Snowgrave Route.
In this guide, we will talk about what the twisted sword is and how it works.
How does the Twisted Sword work in Deltarune?

The Twisted Sword is a weapon designed exclusively for Kris. It has the highest attack stat of any weapon found in Chapters 1 and 2, offering a powerful +16 ATK boost. It also includes a special effect called “Trance Down,” though this currently doesn’t function in the game's demo builds.
The sword is created by fusing two key items:
- The Thorn Ring, obtained only in the Snowgrave Route.
- The Pure Crystal, currently unused and unobtainable.
Since the Pure Crystal hasn’t appeared in the game yet, players can’t make or equip the Twisted Sword without hacking or data access.
To begin making the Twisted Sword, you need the Thorn Ring, which is only available if you follow the Snowgrave Route with Noelle. However, if you stay on that path, Noelle leaves the party with the ring still equipped, making it impossible to bring the item back to Castle Town.
The only way to preserve the Thorn Ring for now is to abort the Snowgrave Route early, bringing it back without progressing further. Even then, the Pure Crystal remains locked, so the Twisted Sword is still unusable.
The Twisted Sword is a high-powered, hidden weapon with strong ties to one of Deltarune’s darkest paths. Whether we’ll ever be able to obtain it legitimately remains to be seen, but it’s one of the many examples of how Deltarune keeps players guessing.
