Do you need PlayStation Plus to play EA FC 25 Ultimate Team on PS5?

EA FC 25 is set to drop on September 27, 2024, and those who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition can even access it seven days earlier, that is, September 20, 2024. One of the most anticipated features of EA FC titles is Ultimate Team, which allows users to build their custom teams and compete against players from around the globe in different online game modes.

However, some platforms that the title will be released on require an online subscription to let you access multiplayer modes. Some PS5 owners must be wondering whether they would need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access Ultimate Team in EA FC 25. They will need the subscription, and this article will be answering that question in detail.

PS5 users will need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play EA FC 25 Ultimate Team

PlayStation Plus (or simply PS Plus) is a subscription service available on PlayStation consoles like PS4 and PS5. Subscribing to it is mandatory for accessing online multiplayer on these consoles. Therefore, if you want to play EA FC 25 Ultimate Team on PS5, then you will need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus.

It should be noted that there are different PS Plus subscription tiers on offer, such as Essential, Extra, and Deluxe. Each varies in terms of price, as well as perks that can be viewed in the following image:

However, you can access Ultimate Team by subscribing to any of these tiers. If you don't have any interest in additional PS Plus benefits and just want to play Ultimate Team on PS5, then subscribing to even the most basic tier — Essential — will work.

Subscription plans for each of these tiers can also be chosen according to your will. You can pay a monthly fee, set up a three-month subscription plan, or pay for the entire year (12 months) at once.

As already stated, FC 25's Early Access begins on September 20, 2024, for those who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition. According to the recently released Pitch Notes, those on consoles will be able to play at midnight (local time) on that date.

If you have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition and own a PS5, you should be able to access the game pretty soon. But a PlayStation Plus subscription will still be required to access Ultimate Team online modes.
