The second day of the main stage in the Chongqing Major saw both the Chinese teams left in the competition, getting knocked out by EG. The lone SEA representative Fnatic were also knocked out of the competition, bringing the number of teams left in the competition to three.

Series 1: Evil Geniuses (EG) vs EHOME

The first series of the day started with the North Americans facing off against young Chinese squad. The first match of the series saw Sumail on an Outworld Devourer for the fifth straight time in the tournament Arteezy on his Terrorblade.

The game started off in equal terms it was the Chinese team which took the advantage in the game after some well-executed fights but after losing a battle near the Roshan pit and regular pickoffs by EG, the NA squad soon came back into the game with fully equipped TB and OD and finished the game after 48 minutes.

The second game of the series saw EHOME pick the OD but EG shocked everyone by picking a Death prophet for Sumail. While this game saw EHOME get an early advantage again, EG managed to create enough space for their TB on Arteezy to get enough farm and take the game within 35 minutes after some well-executed fights.

This left EHOME with a 5th-6th place, $60000 and 900 DPC points, wrapping up a successful run in this major on the back of the Bucharest Minor win two weeks back.

Series 2: Fnatic vs PSG LGD

The match between the last remaining squads from SEA and China saw the first game won by the Chinese on the back of an amazing performance by Somnus on a Razor and fy on an Io with the former having 12 kills and the latter having 23 assists in the game.

This game showed why this squad is rated as one of the best in China and the world in this match after playing with patience and punishing the smallest mistakes made by Fnatic and winning even though the SEA squad had won the laning stage.

The second game was more one-sided with LGD winning within 34 minutes after a well-rounded draft and another amazing performance by Sommnus on a Queen of Pain with 17 kills on the hero.

Fnatic left the tournament with a 5th-6th place, $60000 and 900 DPC points which were better than the 7th-8th position which the team got the last major.

Series 3: PSG LGD vs EG

The series between the lower bracket kings, EG, and the best squad in China started with the first game which looked very volatile with teams trading kills and EG being slightly behind on networth and kills.

But EG like always prioritized giving their carry Arteezy the farm, which soon made his Phantom Assasin go out of control in the game with EG quickly wrapping up the game by half an hour.

The second game was like a ping pong match as EG gave up their early game advantage after overextending a little too much. But after picking up some good fights with good positioning and strategy the NA team slowly clawed their way back into the game at the half-hour mark.

They wrapped the game up after 44 minutes and knocking out PSG LGD for the second consecutive time in a major and the third consecutive Chinese team this major, ending all the Chinese hopes in this tournament and booking a match against Team Secret tomorrow in the lower bracket finals.

PSG LGD will end this tournament with a fourth-place finish, $80000 and 1350 DPC points.

The action will resume tomorrow, January 27th at 05:00 CET with the lower bracket finals between Team Secret and Evil Geniuses, followed by the best-of-five grand finals featuring Virtus.pro at 9:30 CET.

There will also be a showcase match in between the two matches with ex-Wings teaming up against Team Liquid, who will play with their coach rmN- standing in for Miracle.
