Dragon Ball FighterZ returns for Season 2

Dragon Ball FighterZ, Arc System Works' attempt at bringing the Dragon Ball series into the realm of anime fighting games, was a huge success. Supporting a fantastic roster of the series' best characters, it gave fans the Dragon Ball game they've been waiting for since they could remember.

By the time October 2018 rolled around, the game had sold 3.5 million copies, 2 million of them in its first week. With a huge fan base and a backing from the fighting game community, ArcSys would've been crazy to not continue to support for the title. And support it they have, as it's been revealed that there will be a Season 2 of the game, featuring six new DLC characters.

The trailer above features a highlight real of some of the greatest moments in the show's history through the animation of FighterZ, before announcing the next season. Along with the Season 2 announcement was the reveal of one of the most highly requested characters, Jiren.

The trailer showed some brief gameplay of Jiren and his rival, series protagonist Goku, in his SSGSS form. Jiren will be available in just a few days, on January 31st.

Gohan's wife, and the daughter of Mr. Satan, Videl, was also announced. Videl is able to summon Gohan, donned in his Great Saiyaman gear, much like Android 18 could do with 17. Two of her supers seemingly revolve around Gohan, one with him performing a Kamehameha while Videl ducks, and one where the couple attacks the opponent in tandem.

There will be four more DLC characters released throughout Season 2. While two of them are unknown, the trailer did announce two more characters, though no gameplay was shown. Coming from Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Season 2 will bring us SSGSS Gogeta and DBS Broly.

With ArkSys and Bandai Namco bringing in most of the requested characters, one has to wonder who we'll get for the final two DLC slots...

You can play Dragon Ball FighterZ now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
