The Esports World Cup has announced the largest prize pool in esports history for a single event. A staggering amount of $60 million will be up for grabs in the event all set to take place this summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With this prize pool, the EWC has broken the record of the largest prize pool ever awarded at an esports tournament, previously held by Gamers8: The Land of Heroes 2023 for its $45 million prize pool. The event is turning out to be a festival for esports as it welcomes the world's top talent and clubs for an eight-week-long schedule.

This article will shed more light on what fans can expect from the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

The EWC has announced a total of 20 competitions so far for the eight-week schedule. However, they will be adding more competitions to this list.

Having a large prize pool aligns with the vision of the Esport World Cup Foundation to grow the esports scene and provide participating athletes with a stable career in the gaming world.

Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, said in this regard:

"Setting the record for largest esports prize pool is a remarkable achievement, but what I’m most proud of is the positive message this sends to the wider esports and gaming community. More than $60 million is a testament to our investment in the future of global esports, a commitment to esports fans who deserve exceptional events and an extension of our mission to create meaningful competitive opportunities with life-changing prize pools for esports athletes everywhere."

While the $60 million prize pool of the event is impressive in itself, EWC also has a unique cross-game competitive format. This format will award the orgs that outshine in their respective categories. Let's dive deeper into the format of EWC.

Format and participating titles of the Esports World Cup

The Esports World Cup currently has a lineup of 19 participating titles, with more to be added. They are:

  • Apex Legends
  • Counter-Strike 2
  • Dota 2
  • EA Sports FC 24
  • Fortnite
  • Free Fire
  • Honor of Kings
  • League of Legends
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
  • Overwatch 2
  • PUBG Battleground
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege
  • ESL R1
  • Rocket League
  • StarCraft II
  • Street Fighter 6
  • Teamfight Tactics
  • TEKKEN 8

Orgs can select as many titles as they want to compete in, which will then automatically register them for the cross-game competitive event.

Called the Club Championship, this cross-game competitive event will grant a whopping sum of $20 million to the top 16 clubs. After eight weeks, the club that performed exceptionally well in all titles they opted for, will be given the title of world’s first Esports World Cup Club Champion.

While a $20 million sum is going into the Club Championship, the remainder is going into three categories. The Game Championships, MVP awards, and Qualifiers will consume the rest of the $40 million prize pool.

The Game Championships will have a prize pool of around $33 million. The MVPs will also be getting a $50,000 prize for their outstanding performance.

Before the main event begins, the competing teams who participate in the qualifier events will be awarded a prize of $7 million. With this level of grandeur, the EWC is planning to transform Riyadh into a hub for esports and gaming.
