Icelandic gaming developer CCP once again proved that video gaming can have a cause after they initiated an online charity drive to help raise funds in order to provide relief to those affected by the Nepal earthquake which killed over 7,000 people and left over 14,000 injured.

The campaign which kickstarted on May 1st, accepts donations from Eve Online players which will be transferred to the Icelandic Red Cross who are helping with the relief operations in Nepal. The funds are raised from the “PLEX for Good “ initiative which is Eve’s online currency system. The Plex, which retails for $20, can be donated until 15th May to CCP who will give $15 to the Icelandic Red Cross.

Donations can be made by gamers by giving their PLEX to a “CCP Plex for Good” character. CCP has cautioned gamers to throughly check the name of their character as refunds are not guranteed. CCP has commenced the production of complimentary Shirts as a token of appreciation to all those who donate to the cause.

As mention before, this isn’t CCP’s first charity venture. The developer gained acclaim back in 2013 for raising more than $190,000 for those affected in Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. CCP are joined by fellow game developers Ubisoft and Bungie in raising funds for the Nepal quake.
