Spoilers for Far Cry 5 if you have not finished the game! Also includes potential spoilers for Far Cry New Dawn

Ubisoft recently unveiled the story trailer for the Far Cry 5 spin-off and sequel, Far Cry New Dawn. It seems like in the sequel, players will be working together with Far Cry 5's primary antagonist, The Father aka Joseph Seed.

Far Cry 5 ended on a disastrous note. Nuclear bombs were deployed all over the world and your character, Deputy Rook, was stuck in a bunker together with Joseph Seed. In Far Cry New Dawn, the events of the game happen after all the nuclear dust has settled. Players were left wondering what the fate of Deputy Rook was.

But it also looks like the protagonist ends up working with Joseph Seed in this game. Note that this is a speculative theory and not confirmed by Ubisoft. Here are some clues.

In New Dawn, after a mission called The Prophecy, the player scrambles into the bunker where the ending of Far Cry 5 took place. You find this note written by the Rook:

In the trailer, a masked character called "The Judge" opens the doors to New Eden. He is also a recruitable character. It is entirely possible that this character is an older version of The Rook.

But maybe not either. The Rook survived losing his friends, getting mental conditioning and surviving so many different gunfights. However, it does appear to be confirmed that players will return to New Eden.

Far Cry New Dawn will be releasing on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on 15 February 2019. It is the first time Far Cry is doing a sequel of sorts for its main series. Even the spin-off Blood Dragon from Far Cry 3 was not related to Far Cry 3 at all.
