What's the story?

For those of you who thought that a move away from Old Trafford spelled the end for mercurial striker Wayne Rooney, think again. It now appears that the Everton hit man is touching his peak at the latter stages of his career.

The English attacker's latest FIFA Mobile put even the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi to shame and even though the duo may have overall numbers greater than the legendary former Manchester United player, he gives them a tough time in pretty much every attribute of play. Such is his improvement lately, that "Wazza" now finds himself amongst the top players in the entire set up of the game. Quite a difference from his woeful goal scoring form of last season.

In case you didn't know...

Rooney ended a historic spell at Manchester United this summer by moving to boyhood club Everton and in the process took a huge pay cut. The lack of finances does not appear to have hampered his on-field skills much however as the Englishman continues to bang in the goals at an incredible rate. FIFA Mobile seems to acknowledge this and it might even reflect in ratings boost for FIFA 18 when the game releases this month.

The heart of the matter

Wayne Rooney's renaissance could not have come at a better time for Everton fans. With a serious challenge on the horizon, the team seems to be going from strength to strength and that has been reflected on the pitch too.

Rooney's FIFA Mobile numbers look healthy enough to challenge the best and stack up something like this:

Pace: 92, Shooting: 102, Passing: 98, Dribbling: 97, Defending: 72, Physical: 105

Heartwarming, don't you think? While skeptics would continue to discount these numbers as blasphemy, there is no doubt that the FIFA Mobile ratings are legitimate and showcase a player's talents based on their recent performances as well as fan's opinion. Fans appear to be siding with their favourite son for now at least, and that is very well apparent from these mind-boggling numbers. In fact, he is better than Real Madrid's record signing Gareth Bale and Manchester United's star striker Romelu Lukaku.

What's next?

Wayne Rooney is an Everton player this season and will look to replicate his good work from the FIFA portable version over to the big boys in FIFA 18. The heavily anticipated series makes its return to our lives on 29th September, later this month.
