FIFA 18: 5 legends who must be included in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team

FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) is considered to be one of FIFA’s most popular game modes. Exclusive to Xbox One, FUT involves a combination of fantasy football, card games, and football simulation.

Every year FIFA makes sure that a few legends are added to the FUT roster in an attempt to reconnect with the stars who helped to shape the history of the sport. FIFA 17 did not break this tradition and added various superstars, including Carles Puyol, Jamie Carragher and Paul Scholes, to the FIFA Legends Team.

Given that FIFA 18 is nearing its launch, we can’t help but wonder who will join the elite crew this year. Here are a few iconic players who should be a part of the Legend team in FIFA 18:

#1 Ronaldo

It is pretty self-explanatory as to why the Brazilian footballer should be added as a Legend. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner is very popular among fans and has an excellent record. The striker moved to Barcelona in 1996 and scored 34 goals in 37 matches. He also went on to win the Golden Ball and Trofeo Pichichi in 1997.

Moreover, recently leaked footage shows two Russian commentators speaking about Ronaldo and his stint at Barcelona during a recording session for FIFA 18, leaving many to believe that he will most likely be a Legend in the upcoming game.

#2 Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho won the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice

Ronaldinho is one of the most popular footballers of all time. When he wasn’t scoring magnificent goals, you could see him moving around charismatically like a peacock and tricking his opponents with his skills.

Despite being on the cover of five FIFA games, Ronaldinho was not even a part of the last two instalments. He was last seen in FIFA 15 and EA hasn’t even bothered to make him a part of the Classic XI or an FUT Legend. The 2005 Ballon d’Or winner had scored 70 goals for Barcelona, and for EA to ignore him altogether is a little disappointing.

#3 Romario

Romario’s relationship with FIFA seems a bit confusing. Romario was a part of the Legends category for a while but was soon removed due to a licensing issue. But that doesn’t mean that EA cannot get his licence reinstated, especially considering he was a marvellous centre forward.

After amassing over 50 goals for Brazil, his fans consider him to be a player who could hit the back of the net with a blindfold on. That being said, it is possible that EA may have removed him from the roster because he now has a political career. Nevertheless, it would be fascinating to see him included in FIFA 18.

#4 Kenny Dalglish

It is unfortunate that many people know Kenny Dalglish only as a terrible manager who failed at Liverpool. But King Kenny was once a legend, an icon who scored 230 goals during his time at Liverpool and Celtic.

He was such a frighteningly talented player that he later went on to win the PFA Player of the Year in 1983, and became a part of both the English and the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

He is such a beloved icon that Liverpool are having a stand renamed to honour him at Anfield. It is only fair that EA should acknowledge his contribution to football by having him on the Legends team this fall.

#5 Eric Cantona

Eric Cantona played a key role in the revival of Manchester United in 1993

Moving on to the next King on our list, it is very strange that Eric Cantona hasn’t made the cut already. Despite including him in the FIFA Classic 11 team, EA has not made an effort to make him an FUT Legend. There is a reason why Cantona is called The King. The Frenchman was responsible for some incredible footballing moments (drop kicking a Crystal Palace fan isn’t one of them though).

Cantona left for Old Trafford during the 92-93 season, a time when Manchester United were struggling to keep pace with the rest of the teams, only to change the face of the club by scoring goal after goal.

Or to put it in Alex Ferguson’s words, “He (Cantona) illuminated Old Trafford. The place was a frenzy every time he touched the ball.”

The King is clearly one of the true legends of the game and it is surprising that he does not have an FUT Legend card yet.
