What's the story?

When EA Sports released the player ratings for the top 100 players, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was ranked highest with a rating of 94. This put him ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi, who was given a rating of 93. Ronaldo took to Instagram to celebrate the occasion.

In case you didn't know...

Ronaldo also appears on the cover of the game and will be featured in the game alongside protagonist Alex Hunter. The Real Madrid star was extremely proud and honoured to achieve the number one rank on FIFA 18.

The heart of the matter

The Portuguese player is also a strong favourite to win the Ballon d'Or this year after a stellar 2017 season. However, on further analysis, his pace has been reduced by 2 points, his shooting power has increased as well as his passing. His dribbling ability has reduced by 1 point, however, but his defence and physical remain the same. In his Instagram post, Ronaldo can be seen posing with his player card. As mentioned earlier, Ronaldo also plays a role in protagonist Alex Hunter's career in 'The Journey'.

What's next?

The game is set to release at the end of this month and the anticipation is building to a climax. With the likes of Messi and Neymar flanking Ronaldo in the player rankings, it should give football fans and gamers a lot to cheer about.

Author's take

With the release of the player ratings, the hype is higher than ever and FIFA 18 is undoubtedly one of the year's biggest releases. So... What are you going to be doing, come September 29th? My advice would be to get up and hit the stores on that day. In the meantime, why not brush up on your FIFA skills with the predecessor FIFA 17?
