What's the Story?

Brazilian legend, Ricardo Kaka announced his retirement last weekend. He presently plays for MLS club Orlando City FC and is due to retire at the end of the season. Kaka is considered as one of the best midfielders of his generation. He had two successful spells at AC Milan and spent a couple years at Real Madrid. The Brazilian midfielder was an integral part of his national team too, winning the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

In case you didn't know...

Kaka was the last football player, other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, to win the Ballon d'Or. Both Messi and Ronaldo have won the award 5 times each since then.

Heart of the Matter

Kaka is presently rated only at 80 in FIFA FUT. He had spent his last couple seasons playing in the MLS and with age, his ratings on FUT has subsequently gone down. With the announcement regarding his retirement coming, FUT fans are now expecting a special card for Kaka in honour of his exemplary career.

A Reddit user has even gone on to make what possibly could be a special card for Kaka. The user has rated Kaka at 95, putting him on par with Cristiano Ronaldo, and one ahead of FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi. This card also has some amazing attributes, namely 98 dribbling, 95 shooting and 97 passing.

FUT fans want the special card for Kaka to release during FUTmas, the annual FUT special event which is centred around Christmas and New Years. FUTmas will run until January 2nd, 2018.

What's Next?

It remains to be seen if EA will actually release a special card for Kaka. While it is highly likely that a special card will be released for the Brazilian, it is not certain whether the card will be released during FUTmas or sometime later.

Author's opinion

Kaka was a beast of a player in his prime and was admired by football fans all across the globe. His was equally charismatic off the field as he was on it. It is EA's duty to honour such a legend like Kaka, as they do for every player who announces retirement. EA Sports could even bring out a legend card for Kaka in the next version of the game.
