FIFA 19: 5 Premier League players who deserve a huge increase in their ratings

There could be an increase in ratings for many players

EA Sports' latest edition of their annual money-maker was yet again a huge success. FIFA 18 was another one in the long line of the primary football game and made some obvious improvements on its predecessors.

FIFA managed to sell over 10 million copies of their game and while most of the fans were happy with what they got, there were some who weren't.

Ratings have been a big topic of debate and discussion in FIFA for a long while and not everybody is happy once they are released.

And so we embark on a journey to disappoint people earlier than expected by talking about, you guessed it - Ratings!

In this article, however, we look at the five Premier League players who deserve to be rated much higher in FIFA 19 than they were in FIFA 18.

We start our list with a high-flying magpie who allegedly told his club's senior players off after a defeat in the Premier League and has since been their captain.

#5 Jamaal Lascelles

Newcastle United v Stoke City - Premier League
Lascelles has been a rock at the back for Newcastle this season

Jamaal Lascelles joined Newcastle a while ago from Nottingham Forest, alongside his teammate Karl Darlow.

While Darlow was in and out of the team more often than he would've liked, Lascelles took time to get to the first team.

Once he did, he was unstoppable. Lascelles impressed the Newcastle hierarchy when he questioned the mentality of his teammates following their defeat to Southampton.

After his public display of outrage, Lascelles was made the captain of the club. Lascelles' footballing and leadership skills are thought of in such high regard that Chelsea is looking towards him as the next 'John Terry'.

Lascelles has been great yet again, rock-solid in a Newcastle defence that has been really tough to breach ever since the turn of the year.

His performances at the back mean Newcastle find themselves in the 10th position.

Lascelles was rated a meagre 73 at the start of FIFA 18 and I expect that to improve by a lot though in the next edition.

Lascelles has been putting in performances that speak for themselves and an England call-up us likely too. I expect his rating to be much better in FIFA 19. Somewhere around 80-81 would do him justice.

#4 Jesse Lingard

Everton v Manchester United - Premier League
Lingard has been in good goalscoring form this season

Jesse Lingard looked to be on his way down the pecking order once the season started. Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Juan Mata were all mentioned before the Englishman when talking about talent.

And yet, midway through the season, Lingard was outscoring them all.

Lingard was brought in by Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese was trying to find the right combination to fit in behind Romelu Lukaku.

While Lingard was definitely less of a glamorous option than Martial and Rashford, he turned to be a clinical one.

Lingard went on a scoring spree that saw some crucial and scintillating goals. He delivered impressive performances against Chelsea and Arsenal, grabbing goals in both the matches. All in all.

Lingard scored 14 goals and delivered five assists while maintaining a passing accuracy of 88 percent.

Lingard was rated 78 in FIFA 18. Martial was rated 82, Mata was 84, and Mkhitaryan was 85, in comparison.

Lingard has been far more important for the Red Devils than the lot of them and that should be enough to get him a better rating. Somewhere around 83-84, perhaps.

#3 Son Heung-Min

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace - Premier League
Son has been a revelation for Spurs this season

I am not going to say that Son Heung-Min is underrated because the fact is, he's not. Although, due to the glowing attack made up of 'Hurricane' Harry, 'Barcaesque' Eriksen, and 'Golden boy' Dele Alli, Son is often sent to the back seat.

The 25-year-old South Korean has had a hand in 24 goals in 50 appearances for the Lily Whites this season and has filled in for his more dazzling teammates on many occasions.

Son usually occupies the left wing/ left mid slot in Mauricio Pochettino's system but has also been used as a forward by the Argentine in the absence of Kane.

Son likes to keep his play simple and straightforward. You would rarely see Son play a 40-yard pass like Eriksen.

What you would see him do is dribble past an opponent, play a simple pass, and be there at the end to finish the move. Son is a simple player and that's why he's effective.

Son, in my opinion, deserves to be rated much where he is much closer to his teammates. An 82 rating in FIFA 18 was an insult to Son Heung-Min.

He is an important cog in a lethal Spurs attack and if Eriksen, Kane, and Alli can be rated in the range of 85-87, Son should be too.

#2 Mohamed Salah

Manchester City v Liverpool - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Second Leg
Salah is the PFA Player of the year

And Mo Salah scores for Liverpool has been echoed throughout the Merseyside and the rest of Europe for much of the season.

Salah has been good. Salah has been so good that he is currently rated higher than Messi in FUT.

Salah has been so good that he was named the player of the month three times. Salah has been so good that he was named the Player of the Year.

Salah has been so good that over a million Egyptians wanted him to be the country's next President.

And if my intentional repetition was not enough to inform you how good Salah was, I will now throw some stats at you.

Salah has scored 43 goals and provided 11 assists in 49 matches across all competitions so far. He is also on course to break the Premier League scoring record.

Salah's rating of 83 in FIFA 18 was not too bad. However, considering how good he has been this season there should be a considerable increase in his overall rating.

I wouldn't rule out Salah crossing the 90 barrier and earn a spot in the Top 10 for FIFA 19.

#1 Nick Pope

Stoke City v Burnley - Premier League
Pope has been a vital part of Burnley's impressive run this season

Salah can't claim everything now, can he?

The player most deserving of a higher rating in FIFA 19 is Burnley's Nick Pope. I'll start by revealing his overall rating for FIFA 18, which was left at 68.

Can't blame EA though, Pope had been an understudy to Tom Heaton for much of his Burnley career. However, an injury to Heaton made Pope take the centre stage and show us what he can really do.

Nobody expected what happened next. Much of Pope's progress is mirrored to that of Burnley. He has been formidable in goal, making a total of 106 saves in the Premier League so far.

Those of you who have been keeping an eye out for Pope will know that the saves were of remarkable nature as well.

Pope has kept 10 clean sheets in the Premier League so far, even saving a penalty in the process.

His influence, along with a solid defence has been so immense on Burnley's stunning season that the team has conceded fewer goals than Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

He has also been called-up to the national team.

Come on EA! All I am asking for is an 80 overall rating for Pope.
