Fortnite: Get Season 8 Battle Pass for free

Epic Games hit us with patch v7.40 a couple of days ago on Fortnite. The patch came with several notable changes especially to the main game mode, a new Limited Time Mode, a new rifle and a chance to get the Season 8 Battle Pass for free.

There are currently 13 different Overtime challenges that can be played. If players finish all 13 before 27 February, they can get the Season 8 Battle Pass completely for free! No V-bucks needed to be spent at all. This is a great way for people who never got around to getting the Battle Passes to get outfits for free. Players will be rewarded with the Season 8 Battle Pass rewards if they complete the challenge.

Here are some other changes that are worth noting in the main mode.

Get 50 Health After an Elimination

This is a big one. Players can save their healing items without exhausting their stash if they get an elimination. Upon effectively eliminating a player (not just downing them), players will instantly get 50 health as recovery.

50/50/50 Materials Dropped on Elimination

Previously, players did not know what kind of rewards they can get by looting an eliminated player. Now eliminated players will guaranteed drop 50 of each material one elimination.

Material Cap lowered to 500

Building structures as part of your strategy is something quite unique to Fortnite. Players could previously have a cap of 999 for building materials. Now, that has been reduced to 500 and players can't carry that much material anymore. Use wisely!

Harvest Rate Increased by 40 Percent

This change is a good mirror to the lowering of Material caps. Players usually have to spend some time harvesting good material before end-game fights. Now, players can get an increased amount of materials by harvesting so that they can spend time fighting and not farming.
