Manchester United did not enjoy a very good 2013/14 season under former boss David Moyes, who was appointed as the successor of Sir Alex Ferguson after his 11 year stint at Everton, however, it wasn't as impressive as anticipated with him breaking many unwanted records with Manchester United, and the club ending their season at the 7th place, losing a spot in Europe since 1995. The players at Manchester United too did not live up to their potential, however, there were a few new youngsters who did step up for the Red Devils. The English winger never impressed at Old Trafford since his switch to Manchester from Aston Villa in 2011 for a fee believed to be around15million to20million. Ashley Youngs crosses into the box never reached any player and he too had a below average 2013/14 season at Old Trafford. Young was not included in Englands World Cup squad because of his mediocre performances for United.

The Englishman had played his best in the 2013/14 season for Manchester United and was present everywhere in the field. Wayne Rooney had an average World Cup scoring one goal and having an assist to his name.
