God Of War takes home top prize at the New York Video Game Awards

The awards keep on coming for Sony and Santa Monica Studios' God of War. Last night, the Sony-exclusive action title took home Game of the Year at the New York Video Game Awards. Held in the SVA Theater in New York City (you don't say?!), the 8th annual awards were determined by members of New York Videogame Critics Circle. Red Dead Redemption 2 and Tetris Effect also took home two awards each, while God of War's Christopher Judge, won the award for best acting for his role as conflicted warrior and Father of the Year candidate, Kratos.

Assassin's Creed co-creator and founder of Ubisoft Toronto, Jade Raymond, won the annual Andrew Yoon Legend Award for his contributions to the videogame industry.

  • Coney Island Dreamland Award for Best Virtual Reality Game: Tetris Effect
  • Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game: Tetris Effect
  • Raging Bull Award for Best Fighting Game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Central Park Children’s Zoo Award for Best Kids Game: Nintendo Labo Variety Pack
  • A-Train Award for Best Mobile Game: Florence
  • Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game: Dead Cells
  • Freedom Tower Award for Best Remake: Shadow of the Colossus
  • Great White Way Award for Best Acting in a Game: Christopher Judge as Kratos in God of War
  • Knickerbocker Award for Best Games Journalism: Cecilia D'Anastasio for her story in Kotaku: Inside The Culture Of Sexism At Riot Games
  • Captain Award for Best Rookie Esports Game: Knicks Gaming
