Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely one of the best video games of all time. Despite releasing back in 2018, RDR2 is still considered one of the best looking games of all time. However, there are still a lot of people who have been demanding a remastered version for a while now. Now, according to multiple rumors and insider reports, it is speculated that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be receiving a remastered version in Fall 2025.
According to a post by @SynthPotato, who posts news and updates regarding Rockstar Games' titles, it is being speculated that:
"Red Dead Redemption 2 Remastered is coming Fall 2025. After countless years of community requests for this remaster, it looks like a proper remaster bringing new graphics, features, haptic feedback and most importantly 60FPS to consoles is FINALLY going to happen. I absolutely cannot wait to replay my favorite game of all time with a new coat of paint and go for the platinum this time."
As these speculations flooded social media recently, many gamers started talking about the issue. Many believe it to be the much needed release, while others think it won't make much of a difference.

User @Maxipluszwei commented on the post and said:
"I don't get it. There's hardly anything to remaster there. It's still one of the best looking games out there, especially maxed out on PC. Raytraycing wouldn't make a huge difference like in GTA V."
Another gamer also talked along the same lines and stated that a remastered version of the original Red Dead Redemption will be much more logical. @Stanimal032 wrote:
"I love RDR2. It doesn't need remastered. I'd much rather have a RDR1 Remake with RDR2 graphics than this."
Since RDR2 has been locked to 30 FPS ever since it released on consoles, there were many gamers who also gave their two cents on this, hoping for the remastered version to be a reality soon. User @SoCal_Troy wrote:
"I have been waiting for an update to 60fps before going in on a second play through."
Another excited fan of the series, @VinnyScarletto commented:
"Well, this could be interesting. Originally played it on Xbox One and was impressed... upgraded to a Series X and was even more impressed... finally got the PC and was blown away with how smooth 60fps felt in the game. This could be huge, esp if we get RDO content in SP."
User @slopcheff couldn't help but list a number of things that they want to be added in the potential remastered version. They wrote:
"hoping that they add more customisation options like closing coats, adding ponchos, etc, fixing epilogue john, put way more stuff in new austin, other stuff like that would be really cool."
Red Dead Redemption vs Red Dead Redemption 2: Which one should you play first?

Red Dead Redemption released first, with Red Dead Redemption 2 being its "sequel." However, according to the actual timeline depicted by Rockstar, events of RDR2 takes place before the original Red Dead Redemption. While you play as John Marston in the year 1911 in RDR, in Red Dead Redemption 2, you play as Arthur Morgan and the storyline takes place in 1899.
This is precisely why there are much more modern weapons and vehicles available in RDR compared to Red Dead Redemption 2. You play as Arthur Morgan in RDR2. At the end of the campaign, John Marston is introduced. Marston is a 26-year-old fugitive, and acts as a secondary character that you can play as in Red Dead Redemption 2.
After the events of the RDR2 are wrapped up, you can start playing the original title, this time as John Marson who is now 38-years-old. It is pretty evident that Marston is much more mature now compared to before. He has started taking life seriously, wanting to leave his outlaw life behind.
While you definitely can play Red Dead Redemption and then start RDR2, for the best possible experience and immersion, it will be better if you follow the timeline as it was and first play the sequel and then hop on to the 2010 title.
