Hearthstone: The Best Neutral Cards Leaving Arena in 2019 - Part 2

In case you missed it, here is Part 1 of the best neutral Arena cards leaving in 2019 Hearthstone. In the earlier part, we covered powerful neutral cards such as Fire Fly, Violet Wurm, Fire Plume Phoenix, Tar Creeper and Bonemare. These cards are not even close to the cards on this list.

What makes a card powerful in Arena? Minions which can heavily buff your minions on board, minions which act as a great removal or minions with board clears can help you turn around the game pretty fast. Board clears in Arena are exceptionally powerful, compared to their performance in Standard. A good example of this is the new Rastakhan card Dragonmaw Scorcher. It is a dragon that deals 1 damage to all minions. It is pretty lackluster in Constructed, but top tier in Arena.

As mentioned in the previous list, power level of cards in Arena are mapped by sites such as Hearth Arena. They have a tier list which puts a number on cards and tells how powerful or weak a card really is.

Here are 5 more cards which are leaving the Arena format in 2019.

#5. Fungalmancer

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Mushroom Power! This little guy is exceptionally good in Constructed and exceptionally good in Arena. For 5 mana, you can get +6/+6 worth of stats on the board. You can use it to buff your taunts, buff your minions to go for a kill or generally just make your minions a lot stickier and harder to kill.

Pros thought it was underwhelming when it released, but it proved to be a truly amazing card in the common slot. Although you shouldn't play this card on its own, it's a great minion to keep in hand to give your existing minions on board an extra edge.

#4. The Lich King

Expansion: Knights of the Frozen Throne

The Lich King, an iconic character in Warcraft and the trademark character of the expansion is one of the most balanced designed cards out there. It is the best legendary you can get in Arena right now (Onyxia is probably a little better).

The Death Knight cards which it generates can really help you turn the game around. Even the cards such as Doom Pact (destroy all minions and remove cards from your deck for each one destroyed), it can help you regain board control and win your way back up. It is also a powerfully statted taunt (much like Druid's Iron Bark Protector) which will take your opponents some effort to clear.

#3. Cobalt Scalebane

Expansion: Knights of the Frozen Throne

At first glance, Cobalt Scalebane is similar to Master Swordsmith (the guy who does the same, costs lesser and gives 1 damage). While it is not great stat wise, Cobalt Scalebane can buff even your smaller minions and make them a threat. Your opponent will have a tough time questioning whether to destroy your Cobalt Scalebane or the newly buffed high attack minion.

Coupled with the Dragon tag, Cobalt Scalebane has proven to be exceptionally powerful in Arena.

#2. Stoneskin Basilisk

Expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs

Stoneskin Basilisk is a card that sees absolutely no play in Constructed. It is easy to remove and there are just better removals out there. In Arena though, this is probably one of the best removal minions. It takes a divine shield pop and then killing the 1/1 to get rid of this. A Mage or Rogue who uses their Hero Power to remove this minion waste a turn doing so and by not playing a minion on turns 1-3, they can lag behind.

Also, here's a bonus mention to Stubborn Gastropod, which is the next best powerful Neutral Card in Arena from the Journey to Un'goro set

#1. Primordial Drake

Expansion: Journey to Un'goro

Primordial Drake is the ultimate value you can get from any minion. It is a board clear which can weaken or destroy your enemy minions, it is a Dragon so it has synergy with other Dragon cards and it is a high health taunt. Primordial Drake has even seen lots of play in Constructed because of its fair stats and Battlecry.

Even though it costs 8 mana, you can usually get away without playing anything else. It is by far the best, if not one of the best cards to leave Arena when the Standard rotation cycle hits.
