With the sequel finally releasing, plenty of players are interested to know how long Hellblade 2 is. The amount of time one would need to commit to complete a game is a valid query before purchasing the same. The numbers can also be indicative of how much content the developers have provided and how different it is from the first title.

We came to our numbers after exploring the game before launch. You can check out our Hellblade 2 review if you are trying to make up your mind regarding picking it.

And if you're more of a completionist, you can easily get your money's worth as getting all the achievements and collectibles easily adds more than a couple of hours to the game's overall length.

In our playthrough, we completed Hellblade 2's main mission in 6.5 hours. This was played on Dynamic difficulty, with 8/11 achievements (admittedly these were main mission achievements) completed. The remaining achievements were:

  • Tales of Midgard: Collect all the Lorestangir
  • Glimpses of the Gods: Reveal secret paths behind hidden faces
  • Seeing Things Differently: Launch any chapter with an alternate narrator.

Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga, much like its predecessor, Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice, isn't a massive open-world action-adventure game. Instead, it's a brief and focused narrative-driven action game with the focus being primarily on delivering a riveting storyline, alongside some minor puzzle-solving and hack-and-slash combat, which isn't far off from what the original title aimed to deliver.

Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga's campaign length is the same as the original title, with maybe a couple more hours, which can easily be attributed to longer cutscenes. The 6 to 8 arguably can seem short to some, especially for a $50 title.

For comparison, the most recent $50 titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage featured a significantly longer main campaign. However, Hellblade 2 is vastly different from games like Assassin's Creed, and as such, it's not fair to compare the runtime of both these titles simply because they are priced similarly.

Although, there's another title that was recently released on all current-gen platforms, and is quite similar in scope and structure to that of Hellblade 2. That being, Alan Wake 2, which was also priced at $50, and offered a fairly linear narrative-driven experience, with a focus on psychological horror and mild combat, akin to Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga.

Surprisingly, Alan Wake 2's campaign is roughly double the size of Hellblade, lasting roughly 18-20 hours. You can technically stretch Hellblade 2's runtime to around the 8-hour mark by going for 100% completion, which will involve getting all the achievements and replaying the campaign to get all collectibles and Lorestangir.

However, that stands true for almost all modern titles with support for achievements or trophies. Thankfully, Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga is a day-and-date release on Xbox Game Pass (console and PC), if you're unsure about spending $50 on a 6 to 7-hour-long title, you can simply play it on Game Pass.
