Hideo Kojima reveals new details about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Snake in Metal Gear Solid V

Metal Gear series creator, Hideo Kojima, revealed a few new details about his upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain at this year’s Taipei Game Show. A twitter user called JunkieHQ has been kind enough to translate Kojima’s interview and announcements at the event, while Metal Gear Informer has listed the most important details on their site. So here are a few new features players can expect to see in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain:

  • Firstly, Kojima brought up the games unique dynamic weather system and how it will affect the gameplay. Rainy weather will force enemies to take shelter near buildings, something players will have to take note of in case they are planning an infiltration route.
  • Secondly the Wildlife will also play a vital role in the game. Previously in Metal Gear Solid 3, players could catch and eat animals. Metal Gear Solid V will not include this feature but instead, will allow players to capture animals and send them back to their Mother Base. Kojima revealed that these captured animals will be of “use to you” later in the game.
  • And Lastly, Metal Gear Solid V will include flashback scenes to help new players understand the story better.

Kojima has also admitted that this is toughest Metal Gear title he has ever developed. This was because he had to create a brand new engine(The Fox Engine) for the game as well as restructure the whole studio. Hopefully Kojima’s hard work pays of and Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain lives up to its hype. In the meantime, you can check out the plot details for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain here.
