Gears to bring before the fight

Before heading into the fight with the Premetamorphic Green Hunter in Lies of P Overture, it’s best to have either the Live Puppet’s Axe or the Salamander Dagger Blade as your main weapon.

For your Legion Arm, go with either Flamberge or Aegis. Aegis is great for blocking the boss’ grab attacks, especially since those can heal it if they land. Flamberge, on the other hand, lets you fire a stream of flames, which is useful for applying burn damage.

Make sure to stock up on Stagger throwables and load Fire Canisters (if you go with Aegis) into your extra slot — both are handy for interrupting the boss and burning it during its healing phases.

The Premetamorphic Green Hunter begins the fight by rushing at you. Throw your stagger items early to break its movement. You’ll notice a white bar appear around its health — that’s the stagger build-up. When the bar’s close to full, stop attacking. That’s when the boss switches to an acid-spewing phase.

Just before that happens, throw Fire Canisters in the spot where it's about to sit. That way, the Premetamorphic Green Hunter burns during its healing time. Keep your distance from the acid and heal if you need to.

The Aegis Arm works well against the close-range grab attacks. For the body slam, the boss stands up on two legs and slowly moves toward you before slamming down. If it lands, you get stunned and then bitten. As soon as it stands, strafe sideways or back off completely. After it slams, you’ll have a short window to land a few hits safely.

The Premetamorphic Green Hunter will now burrow down and come up underneath you. The best way to dodge this is by moving diagonally as soon as it disappears. If you’re a little late, you’ll still have time to recover. When it resurfaces, that’s your chance to either throw another stagger item or hit it up close with your weapon before it recovers.

During sweeping claw attacks, stay back. Once the animation ends, get in quickly, land a few hits, then back off.

If the jump grab misses, don’t waste time — close the gap and hit with your weapon for good damage. Keep rotating between blocking, dodging, and attacking until its health drops to zero.

Before leaving the pit, collect Quartz as a reward for beating the boss.
