Nintendo Switch's role-playing simulation, Rune Factory 5, has grown immensely popular amongst users since its worldwide launch just a couple of days ago.
While the title was initially released in May 2021 in Japan, it was not until March 2022 that players outside the region were allowed access. While the game's adventure and exploration aspects are fascinating, it's the farming life simulation within it that players are falling in love with.
Like any other farming sim, Rune Factory 5 allows adventurers to upgrade their farming tools and increase their crop yield. However, upgrading a farming tool in the game is not easy, and many newbies struggle with it.
Today's guide will be able to help those still struggling with one of the core mechanics of the game.
Upgrading Farming Tools in Rune Factory 5
Here's what you need to do to upgrade your farming tools in Rune Factory 5:
1) Have the Forging License
First off, you'll need to get your hands on the Forging License in order to upgrade farming tools in the game. To get the license, you will need to answer Eliza's three questions correctly.
The questions are rather rudimentary, and you should not have trouble selecting the correct options for the answer.
If you find yourself stumped, however, the questions are listed below, along with their answers:
Question 1: What do you need for Smithing?
- A: Materials and RP.
Question 2: Where can you forge items?
- A: At a Forge.
Question 3: When you have a recipe for a weapon you already own…
- A: You need less RP to make it.
2) Purchase a forge
Even after getting the license, you will not be able to start upgrading your farming tools immediately. The next step after receiving the license would be to visit Palmo and purchase a forge, which you'll need for upgrading and creating new weapons and farm tools.
3) Get materials and recipes to upgrade
After purchasing the Forge, you will need the recipes and materials for specific upgrades.
Recipes in the game can be learned by eating recipe bread. While you can upgrade farming tools without a recipe, it will take more RP, and is therefore not the recommended method.
Apart from recipes, materials will also be required, and for this, it's necessary to farm all the ores and resources you come across when on quests or clearing out nearby dungeons.
4) Increasing Forge skill and being able to make better upgrades
You can improve your upgrades and unlock new ones once your forge skill rises in Rune Factory 5. This happens over time as you invest in making more items. Keep in mind, however, that crafting is something you must do one step at a time.
