League of Legends is one the most played game of all time. The game was released back in 2009 and has never looked back since then. In 2017 it was reported that 80 million people play league on monthly basis and 27 million players play every single day.

This is just a crazy number and shows how much popular league is despite the fact that market nowadays is flooded with top-notch games. The league scene is still growing and attracting new players every day.

This being said League of Legends is one of the hardest game to get into. The tricky learning curve and hefty game mechanics often tend to make new players scratch their head. Unlike FPS(First person Shooting) games where the game macro is relatively straight forward League of Legends which is a MOBA(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena ) is very confusing and has several layers to its actual gameplay. This guide is meant to help new players who are thinking to dive into some League action.

Main Objective :

The map which is also referred as Summoner's rift is divided into two halves generally called Red side and Blue side. Each side has 5 players and both the sides have similar structures which are known as turrets. At the heart of both side there is a giant stone which is called as Nexus. The main objective of both the team is to destroy other team's Nexus and whoever does it first wins the game. Both the teams try to destroy the nexus while defending their own.

# Every champions have 4 abilities with a few exceptions. These abilities can be used Using button Q,W,E and R(default). Press any button for a specific ability and then click on target.

Lanes:

There are three roads connecting both the bases, these are known as lanes. These lanes are often referred as Top lane, Mid lane and Bottom lane respective to their positions. These lanes are used by Players to push the opponent team into their base and vice versa. Players usually stick to one lane until later into game.

All the lanes are connected to each other by jungle. Jungle has neutral monsters which don't attack either bases but can be killed to get additional gold and temporary buffs. Usually one player will reprise the role of Jungler and will try to roam to different lanes.

Turret:

These are the tall structure standing on each lane. These structures constantly fire bolts which damages any enemy unit in its range at an even rate. These structures primarily focus es on minions rather than your champion until unless you attack enemy champion while you are in its range or there is no ally minion in the turret range.

Minions:

Nexus:

It is the main structure residing in either side of the base. The team who destroys the opponent's nexus first wins the game. Apart from that Nexus generates minions which goes into each lane.

Items and Shop:

Each player has access to a shop located in base. The shop has a vast variety of items which shapes your game style. You can buy these items via the gold you get from killing minions, neutral monsters or enemy champions. You also get gold uniformly through out the game even if you don't kill enemy units. The faster you get items the more stronger you become in comparison to your opponent. You can buy bits of a single item which can later be converted into a whole item once every bit is purchased or you can buy the whole item at once if you have enough gold.


XP:

As the game progresses you gain experience for doing different things such as killing minions or enemy champions. These exp points are used for gaining level. When you gain a level for example from level 1 to level 2 you can add a point to an ability for unlocking it or making it more stronger. You can go up to level 18 at maximum.

Champions:

League of Legends has a vast amount of champions. As of 31 May 2018 League has added 141 champions to game with latest being Pyke. Players can try different champions and start playing the one which suits their style. Usually, the champions are categorized into three roles.


Damage:

This can be further classified into Mages(also know as APC) or Marksman(Also known as ADC). These champions are responsible for majority damage dealt to opponent. These champions have high damage and low health pool.

Recommended champion for beginners - Ashe and Lux.


Tanks:

These champions have high health pool but low damage output. They are responsible for peeling for their Damage carries while dealing damage to opponents. They usually engage or disengage a fight.

Recommended champions for beginners- Garen and Malphite.


Supports:

These champions bring utility to table. They can protect other champions or remove crowd control etc. They also get vision for their team and also responsible for healing other champions.

Recommended champions for beginners- Janna and Taric.
