Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal and everyone's favorite web-crawler Spider-Man have become somewhat synonymous with each other, especially since 2023. Over the years, Lowenthal has voiced prominent gaming and pop-culture icons like the Prince from the Prince of Persia series, Sasuke from Naruto: Shippuden, Alucard from Castlevania: SotN, etc.

Yuri Lowenthal has also played the roles of characters in recent games like Smoke in Mortal Kombat 1, Johnny in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Jacob Boyer in Redfall, and, most importantly, Rick the Door technician in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Additionally, he's voiced characters in games like Helldivers 2, Genshin Impact, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

However, it is his performance as Peter Parker and his witty vigilante persona that made him a household name in recent years. Here's a look at how the iconic voice behind the Prince in Prince of Persia Sands of Time eventually became synonymous with Spider-Man.

Yuri Lowenthal, the voice behind Naruto and Prince of Persia, is now best known for his role as friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

Yuri Lowenthal has a very distinct voice, something that can easily be seen in any character he lends his talents to, from the young and naive Prince in the Prince of Persia series to the cunning but humble member of the Lin Kuei, Smoke. You can easily recognize Lowenthal's voice when these characters speak, despite the differences in their tone and personalities.

While he has voiced serious characters, most of his iconic lines involve anime or video game protagonists that are either lighthearted or "quippy," albeit in a good way, such as the Prince of Persia or Alucard. This is exactly why Insomniac Games' decision to cast him in the shoes of the eponymous hero in Marvel's Spider-Man titles was perfect.

Yuri's voice feels incredibly natural coming from Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Whether he is cracking jokes while beating up bad guys or trying to make ends meet — while also taking care of his relationships with Aunt May, MJ, Miles, etc — his voice offers levity and brings depth to the character.

While Lowenthal impressed every comic-book fan with his performance as Peter in the original Marvel's Spider-Man game, his performance in its sequel is what brought him into the limelight.

While the 2018 release only explored the naive and vulnerable aspects of Peter, the sequel added a darker side to his personality, with Venom.

Although Yuri Lowenthal did not voice this popular character in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, he did deliver a rather bone-chilling performance as the Symbiote-infused Spider-Man. His blood-curdling scream while fighting against Kraven is the absolute pinnacle of voice acting in any Spider-Man media to date.
