Konami has finally revealed the official release date, box art as well as the Day One and Collector’s Edition versions of its highly anticipated upcoming title, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. But the Metal Gear series developers aren’t stopping there. Both Konami and Sony Computer Entertainment have now unveiled a special Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Special Edition PlayStation 4 console.
The Special Edition Metal Gear Solid V PS4 console is inspired by series protagonist Snake’s bionic arm. The console looks pretty slick with a beautiful red coat finish on the top half with a black coat on the bottom. Both the console and the controller also sport the Diamond Dogs logos with a thin gold strip detail and a gold coloured PS4 logo, all of which go pretty well with the consoles red and black theme. The controller is coated in a cool silver colour, much like Snake’s gun.
Konami has not revealed a price or release date for this limited edition console yet, but it seems like the Metal Gear Solid V console will be exclusive to Asian countries. This isn’t too surprising as Japan has gotten a ton of limited edition consoles that have never made their way to Western countries. Hopefully this isn’t the case with the Metal Gear Solid V console. The console is likely to release around the same time as the game.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is slated to release on September 1st for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and on September 15th for the PC.
