Pokken Tournament to be released later this year

Bandai Namco’s upcoming arcade fighter game Pokken Tournament is slated to release sometime this year, though fans haven’t heard much from the game since its announcement in 2014. But that will soon change come January 23rd as Bandai Namco is all set to reveal some more information about the much-anticipated title through live stream.

Twitter user Flying_Wonkey has discovered a new promotional poster which states that Bandai Namco will be teaming up with Famitsu to reveal some more information on Pokken Tournament through their online series on Niconico, which is known for showing off a variety games. It is noted that Pokemon is one of the most popular series in the stream. He posted,

Exactly what information will be revealed on the live stream is not clear yet but it’s pretty likely to be another new fighter for the game or maybe even a couple of new features. Pokken Tournament is a combination of competitive fighter games and the Pokemon series.

The game will be more like Tekken and less like the Super Smash Bros where players will have to battle it out against each other using their Pokemon. It’s a unique concept for the franchise that has got a lot of fans interested. So far only three characters have been announced, namely Lucario, Machamp, and Blaziken.

You can head over to Niconico on January 23rd if you want to catch the live stream.
