Mortal Kombat 11 is only a few months away, with a scheduled release date of April 23rd. Since being announced at the 2018 Game Awards back in December, Netherrealm Studios has been sure to keep fans intrigued with previews of the game, giving us peeks at the gameplay while also revealing the roster slowly over time.

In the reveal trailer, it was shown that Raiden and Scorpion would both be in the game, while also adding in some early DLC with the old ruler of Outworld, Shao Kahn. At the reveal party in January, Netherrealm added Baraka, Sub-Zero, and Sonya Blade (voiced by WWE Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey) while also bringing back Skarlet, making her first appearance in a core game without being DLC.

We also saw the introduction of two new characters, Kronika, the boss of the upcoming title, and her right-hand man Geras, a new fighter in the series.

Since then, we've seen several more characters revealed. D'Vorah, Kano, Liu Kang, Kabal, and most recently, Jade have all been announced. And now, another star and series protagonist is set to join the roster.

Johnny Cage, who has taken on a more serious role in the previous two titles, was officially added to the roster this morning. In Mortal Kombat 9, Netherrealm Studios took a different path in the story, opting to kill off most of the traditional cast, leaving only Sonya Blade, Raiden, and Johnny Cage as the defenders of Earthrealm.

Though they were joined by others in MK X and even managed to bring a few fighters back to life, Blade and Cage played an integral part in the story, as did their daughter Cassie Cage.

Whether Johnny Cage will continue to shine as the main star of the series is unknown. He is sporting some impressive new moves in the trailer, however. In fact, Netherrealm really focused on his Hollywood career for Mortal Kombat 11. We see him make use of his stunt double, setting up for the always devastating low blow. He's seen dealing out some massive damage with an award and even blinds his opponents with paparazzi-style flash photography.

Even his fatality plays on this, as we see him having to go through multiple "takes" to get the uppercut right. Ed Boon and the rest of the staff really outdid themselves with Cage this time around. Though, it's hardly a surprise considering how well they've handled him and the rest of the cast since rebooting the series in 2011.

Pick up Johnny Cage and show off your classic action hero moves when Mortal Kombat 11 hits shelves on April 23rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
