Naughty Dog working hard to ensure a smooth launch for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

There is nothing gamers dread more than a broken game, which makes 2014 one of the worst years for gamers with many highly anticipated AAA titles having tons of bugs and technical issues at launch. The list includes titles like Assassin’s Creed: Unity (ungodly amount of bugs) and Halo: The Master Chief Collection (broken matchmaking feature). And while a bug infested game is bad enough, getting it fixed is a whole other problem with many developers scrambling to release patches and updates.
The result is that gamers are expected to download huge patches just to get their games fixed, and it may not be entirely successful. Luckily, Naughty Dog seems to have taken note of this and are working hard to ensure their upcoming title has the smoothest launch possible.
In a recent interview with GameInformer, Naughty Dog Co-Presidents, Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra went into more details about the development of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The two explained that they understand a gamers frustration when a title is released with technical issues. So they mentioned that the team would rather release Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as a “polished game”.
Not only does a polished release satisfy players, it also reduces the workload for the developers, as they won’t have to worry about working extra time on fixes and patches. Balestra also stated that waiting for and downloading a huge 20GB patch “would suck” for most players. So the development team is hoping it won’t come to this and that the game will be playable from day one.
