New release date announced for Ori and the Blind Forest

Ori and the Blind Forest

Moon Studios upcoming indie 2D side-scroller Ori and the Blind Forest premiered at E2 last year. The games debut trailer was a big hit among E3 goers and showcased some stunning graphics coupled with an emotional storyline. Sadly, the release was delayed and pushed back to 2015 with the developers stating that they need a little more time to add a final layer of polish to the title. And now the developers have revealed a final release date for Ori and the Blind Forest as March 11th, 2015.

Delays, while frustrating, cannot be helped these days. Many titles, both AAA or otherwise, have had their release date pushed back so developers have some extra time to ensure their game is polished and bug free. This is probably the best decision after a string of buggy releases last year left gamers annoyed. So they probably won’t be as forgiving of broken titles this year.

Also November seen the release of many high profile AAA titles and it’s likely that an indie game like Ori and the Blind Forest would have been lost in the fray had they launched then. So the decision to push back the release date is very understandable and probably for the best.

Ori and the Blind Forest is a 2D platformer that follows a spirit who explores a magical land after the forest was devastated. The game is being published by Microsoft and will be available exclusively for the Xbox One and PC. And Xbox 360 version is also in the works and will release sometime in 2015.

Ori and the Blind Forest is priced at $19.99 in the US. You can check out the new gameplay footage below:
