The Viking-themed tactical role-playing video game, The Banner Saga 2, was announced in The Game Awards this weekend. The game has been developed by independent game studio Stoic, and serves as a sequel to The Banner Saga, which was released earlier this year. Banner Saga 2 takes place after the events of the first game.
Earlier this year, Stoic was involved in a trademark dispute with the game developers King, famous for their Candy Crush Saga, who claimed The Banner Saga is "confusingly and deceptively similar" to Candy Crush Saga. Later in March, Stoic announced an agreement with King that enables both parties to protect their respective trademarks.
At the Game Awards show, there was no mention of platform or release date for this new game, but the original Banner Saga is currently only available on PC. They also released exclusive first-look at several screenshots the game. Check out the announcement trailer and screenshots below:
