Momochi is sponsored by Evil Geniuses, which is now owned by Twitch. He went on to defeat the previous four Evolution Championship Series Street Fighter champions. In a best three out of five series, Xian was forced to change characters after Momochi took the 2-1 lead in the first set. Xian then tied the series at 2-2 but dropped the fifth match to Momochi.

Momochi then won 3-1 against Xian in the final match set, taking the first place and a prize purse worth over $36,000. So the top three Capcom Cup finalists this year are Momochi, Xian and Luffy.

Yoshinori Ono announced that announced that the prize purse for next year’s Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup will be $500,000, more than double of this year’s amount. The event concluded with the premiere of an extended version of the gameplay trailer for the new Street Fighter V. The trailer revealed a brand new character for the game.
