The much anticipated Alan Wake 2 DLC dubbed "Night Springs" received its debut trailer at Summer Game Fest 2024. It shadowdrops tomorrow, June 8, 2024, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Additionally, game director Sam Lake took to the stage to reveal that a physical edition of Alan Wake 2 is coming soon.

This is good news for fans who have been expecting both the Alan Wake 2 DLC and physical copies for a while. Here's everything you need to know about Alan Wake 2 at Summer Game Fest 2024.

Alan Wake 2 DLC will let players control alternate versions of Tim Breaker and Jesse Faden

The Alan Wake 2 DLC is about Night Springs, an in-universe TV show also highlighted in past games, and will feature three episodes each with familiar playable characters: the Number One Fan based on the waitress Rose Marigold from the base game. She will be armed with a shotgun to deal with the minions of darkness and must save the Writer from imminent threat.

Then there's the Actor, based on real-life actor Shawn Ashmore. His likeness draws inspiration from Sheriff Timothy Breaker, also from the base game. However, many fans will also find him resembling Jack Joyce from Quantum Break, also played by the actor. As the hero Time Breaker, he aims to track down the Master of the Many Worlds and stop him from killing Breaker's alternate selves.

The Sibling meanwhile is an alternate version of Control's Jesse Faden, who wants to find her missing brother in an alternate reality of Coffee World. Finally, the Night Springs DLC is the first of two expansions and will only be available as part of the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition as well as the physical versions.

Alan Wake 2 physical editions explored

Initially, Alan Wake 2 did not get physical versions and saw massive backlash for it. Developer Remedy Entertainment seems keen on remedying this by revealing physical Deluxe Editions as well as a limited Collector's Edition. The former will launch on October 22, 2024, while the latter arrives in November 2024 only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC players will miss out on the Collector's Edition.

Here's what features in both editions:

Deluxe Edition ($79.99):

  • Full base game
  • Digital Deluxe Edition items: Nordic Shotgun Skin, Crimson Windbreaker, and Lantern Charm (Saga Anderson) | Parliament Shotgun Skin and Celebrity Suit (Alan Wake) | Expansion Pass (with Night Springs and The Lake House DLCs)
  • Reversible cover sleeve with new art
  • Code for Alan Wake Remastered Digital Edition

Collector's Edition ($199.99):
