Team GodLike from India failed to perform well in their opening match against Elevate from the Philippines in the Knockout Stage and suffered elimination from the COD Mobile Summer International 2024. The Knockout Stage is being played in China. A total of eight teams from the Group Stage qualified there. The event featured a total cash prize pool of 500,000 yuan ($70,480).
Day 1 of the Knockout Stage was hosted on Saturday, September 19, 2024. Elevate, GodLike, Wolves, and Stand Point Gaming were seeded into the Lower Bracket Round 1. GodLike and Stand Point Gaming failed to win their crucial matches and were knocked out of the COD Mobile Invitational, while Elevate and Wolves moved to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals.
In the Upper Bracket Semifinals, Qing Jiu Club hammered Stalwart, while XROCK defeated India’s Team Vitality. Both the winning teams moved to the UB Finals, while the losing teams fell to the LB Quarterfinals.
Team GodLike’s performance in COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024
Team GodLike stumbled in the first round of their match against Elevate and lost the battle by a score of 175-250. The Learn-led Indian lineup couldn’t make the start as expected but bounced back by winning the second round with a score of 9-7.
Team GodLike failed to maintain their momentum in the third round and was eliminated from this COD Mobile competition. This match was held in a best-of-five (Bo5) format. The club received a total prize of 15,000 yuan (around $2100).
The team has not been in their signature form for the past few months. They also had a below-average run in the Group Stage of this Summer invitational. The squad recently finished second in the regional Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6. The team will now prepare for the COD Mobile World Championship 2024 Stage 5, which will be played next month in the United States.
Another Indian squad, Team Vitality also faced challenges on the opening day of the Summer International Knockout as they lost their first game against XROCK. However, the club will have a chance to make a comeback in this competition as they will face Wolves in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals on Day 2.
Stalwart Esports from the Philippines, who had an astonishing run in the Group Stage, also faltered in their first match of the Knockout against Qing Jiu Club. Day 2 of the Summer Invitational Knockout will be played on September 20, 2024.
