New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is the next generation of Mario Games that is coming to Nintendo Switch. Releasing worldwide on 11 January 2019, the game is not exactly an original. It is a reskin of the 2012 Wii U game New Super Marios. U. But is this the same game with just a Deluxe slapped on it?

The Wii U version of the game also came with an additional campaign as DLC called New Super Luigi U. The new Switch Deluxe edition will also receive the same DLC included when you purchase from the Nintendo Store.
The Switch port includes 2 new characters you can play as - Nabbit and Toadette. The game much like the classic Mario format is a 2D side-scrolling format which is also very difficult to play. Like the Wii U version, the game also allows you to do activities such as flying and swimming if you need to get through levels.
The "1-UP" feature which makes you bigger and stronger becomes a "3-UP" if you play Toadette (she turns into Princess Peach when this happens). Toadette is a good character if you want to play the game on easy mode. The other character Nabbit can be invincible to enemies which also makes him a good pick for an easy mode.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is another fine addition of Mario games to be released for the Switch. The other games such as Mario Kart 8 (which was also a reskin), Mario Party, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Tennis were also smashing hits and among the bestsellers for the console.
While it may not be the "best' game for the Switch with many other enjoyable titles in the market, the game is highly enjoyable for Mario lovers. If you miss the classic Mario format and haven't played the Wii U version from 7 years ago, this is a great pickup!
